Display screen flickers
Release date: Mar 25, 2025

Condition

Customer statement:

The statements regarding a flickering display apply to the panoramic display with the display areas on the instrument cluster and MMI and, if fitted, to the front passenger display and head-up display. The complaint can occur either on one display only or on multiple displays.

The customer complains that the display flickers briefly. The entire display is interrupted for a very short period of well below one second.

The time between two image dropouts is several seconds or minutes, or the issue may occur in isolation.

Complaints of this nature generally occur at lower temperatures below 10 °C.

Workshop findings:

Intermittent event memory entries are logged in diagnostic address 007E of the panoramic display. The time stamp in the freeze frame data should match the time at which the complaint first occurred. The frequency counter should be correspondingly high in the event of multiple occurrences.

As a rule, both event memory entries are logged at the same time. If only one of the two entries is logged, a connection with this description cannot be ruled out in the event of a corresponding customer complaint.
